On May 7, the NYSAFC board of directors announced that the 114th Annual Conference & FIRE 2020 Expo has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing New York state directives and federal guidelines concerning large gatherings. This is the first time the conference has been canceled since 1917 and 1918, when it was called off due to World War I. FIRE 2021 will be held from June 16-19 in Syracuse, NY. Registration will be opening soon.
 
As per the recommendation of the Nominations and Elections and Constitution and By-Laws Committees.

NYSAFC recently honored Past Chief Michael S. Smith for 50 years of dedicated service with the Southport Fire Department. He also served as the director of fire and emergency management of Chemung County for 23 years. NYSAFC 1st Vice President Lee Shurtleff presented Mike with a certificate on behalf of the association.
