Get Involved!

By Chief David Winzig, Eggertsville Hose Co.
Chairman, NYSAFC Government Affairs Committee

From April 30 - May 1, 2014, a delegation from the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs will be joining members of the fire service from across the country in Washington D.C. to talk to our Congressional representatives and senators about legislation that not only affects us in New York, but throughout the nation.

Delegates will meet with legislators to educate them about the many important issues that face emergency service providers as part of the Congressional Fire Services Institute’s annual National Fire & Emergency Services Dinner & Seminars program. This event also offers a tremendous opportunity to network and discuss concerns with other chiefs and firefighters from all regions of the country.

I urge all of you to check out the CFSI website to learn about what this outstanding association does to enhance what we do in the fire service. Click here to learn more.

Also be sure to save the date for the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs’ annual Government Affairs Day, which will be held on May 19, 2014, at the Capitol's Legislative Office Building in Albany, N.Y.

At this event, fire chiefs and emergency responders will meet with representatives from across the Empire State.
