Nassau Firefighters Bring Christmas to Wounded Warriors

Firefighters visit with a heroic soldier injured serving our country.

On December 7, 2012, members of the Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warrior traveled to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. to bring Christmas presents and holiday cheer to wounded soldiers and Marines receiving treatment and rehabilitation at the hospital. Other Nassau County firefighters traveled to Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune with additional presents that same week.

Nassau firefighters formed Operation Wounded Warrior eight years ago and 40 of Nassau’s 71 fire departments are actively involved in supporting the nation’s wounded warriors.

Other departments wishing to help can contact Chairman Joe O’Grady of the Floral Park Fire Department at (516) 462-4617.
