EMS Drug Shortages Putting Patients at Risk

Thus far in 2012, more medications have been in short supply than any other year in history. Curiously, shortages only exist in the United States. The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) EMS section issued a position statement on drug shortages calling for a collaborative effort between fire, EMS, government, and manufacturers to resolve the crisis. Advice for fire and EMS chiefs on supply management are also included in the position statement.
