Fire Department EMS Codes to Expire

By EMS Coordinator Mike McEvoy, Saratoga Co.
NYSAFC Director – EMS

Multiple fire department BLS-FR (basic life support-first response) agencies will lose their state-issued EMS agency codes at the end of the month if they fail to submit required renewal paperwork to the State EMS Bureau. The Department of Health (DOH) sent postcard reminders last week to BLS-FR services that have failed to submit renewal information. Services who lose their DOH agency code on Jan. 1 will lose training reimbursement eligibility for CFR and EMT courses, access to free PCR forms from their region and eligibility to participate in the CME recertification program. If your service did not receive and submit renewal paperwork, contact your county EMS coordinator or regional council ASAP.
