This year’s NYSAFC Conference and FIRE 2011 expo will include a special one time only opportunity for fire departments and fire safety educators. NYSAFC was awarded a grant from the United States Fire Administration to conduct a Smoke Alarm Project Training Workshop at the June 2011 Conference. All fire departments represented at the training event will be eligible to receive a free supply of smoke alarms to be used in local smoke alarm installation projects during summer 2011.

This workshop will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Turning Stone Resort in Verona, N.Y. During the workshop, featured speakers will share their experiences in conducting successful smoke alarm installation projects. New approaches to smoke alarm installation and fire safety education projects will also be discussed. Participants will gain knowledge and skills so that they can conduct effective smoke alarm installation and fire education programs in their own communities during the summer months using the smoke alarms provided by NYSAFC.

This workshop will be free but class size is limited. Contact Sue Syzdek, NYSAFC programs assistant, at ssyzdek@nysfirechiefs.com for more information.
