MOLST Form Updates Hit Nursing Homes
The State Department of Health finally rolled out notice to nursing homes advising of changes made to the MOLST form two years ago. You should start seeing the new forms any day now, so if you missed the review class, take a peek at Policy Statement #23-12, which explains the new form. For EMS, critical decision-making has been moved to the first page, with options not to transport on the second page.
 
IAFC Publishes Heart Safe Community Guide
The International Association of Fire Chiefs EMS Section just released a “how to” guide for communities interested in the Heart Safe Award Program. The Heart Safe Community Guide explains the application and scoring process for the Heart Safe Community Award, issued annually by the IAFC’s EMS Section, with support from the PulsePoint Foundation. The guide highlights key strategies to improve the prevention and treatment of heart disease and sudden cardiac arrest at the community level. It is intended for system leaders and elected officials, offering best practices to help communities become Heart Safe. Systems interested in applying for the Heart Safe Community Award are encouraged to implement the programs outlined in the guide to strengthen their application and enhance community outcomes.  Download the guide here.
