Community Paramedicine Bill Signed Into Law
During the eleventh hour of the 2023 Legislative Session, the New York State Senate and Assembly approved Community Paramedicine legislation (Bills S6749B/A6683B). Governor Kathy Hochul signed the legislation into law. The law establishes a community-based paramedicine demonstration program to operate with the same flexibility authorized under Executive Order Number 4 of 2021 (now expired), as currently approved for a period of two years. This will allow existing pilot programs to continue and create space for additional programs, and require creation of a stakeholder advisory panel to make recommendations to the Department of Health on regulations and guidance for standards of care, permitted tasks, and required training.
