AFDSNY Commissioner Training
The Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York will be conducting Fire Commissioner Training in conjunction with FIRE 2016 on Wednesday, June 15. Learn more and register here!

Hands-On Training
It's not too late to register for NYSAFC Hands-On Training at FIRE 2016. Hands-On Training will be conducted on Thursday, June 16 and Friday, June 17. Spaces are still available in the Advanced Thermal Imaging Camera Ops, Advanced Vehicle Extrication, Aggressive Interior Fire Attack, Flashover, Multifaceted Elevator Rescue, Rapid Intervention/FAST/Survival, Rope Rescue, Truck Company Ops I: The Inside Truck, and Truck Company Ops II: The Outside Truck programs. Keynote Address: "Fire Dynamics Implementation: Two Sides of the Same Coin!" 
Division Chief Eddie Buchanan, Hanover (VA) Fire & EMS and Battalion Chief John Salka, FDNY
On Thursday, June 16, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the Showroom, Division Chief of Volunteer Services Tom LaBelle, Albemarle County (VA) Fire Rescue, will sit down with Chiefs John Salka and Eddie Buchanan for a lively discussion on the implementation of recent research from NIST and UL. Get two very unique points of view on how fire departments should use this information and consider how the fire service will move forward into the future. Open to all attendees!

NYSAFC Memorial Service
Join NYSAFC as we pay tribute to our deceased association members during this moving ceremony on Thursday, June 16 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the Showroom. This ceremony is open to all attendees and the public.

NYSAFC FIRE 2016 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb
Show others that you will never forget the 343 members of FDNY who bravely gave their lives on September 11, 2001. Join NYSAFC and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation for the FIRE 2016 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Friday, June 17 (on-site registration at 7:00 a.m., climb begins at 8:00 a.m.). For 2016, there are many ways to lend your support! Climber: For $35, climb the Turning Stone Resort tower hotel stairwell multiple times for a total of 110 stories, representing the number of floors in the Twin Towers (includes a keepsake memorial ID card honoring a hero lost on 9/11 and commemorative t-shirt). Virtual Climber: For $25, register to support the climb without actually climbing (includes a keepsake memorial ID card). Teams: Team up to "split" the climb with one or more person ($35 per person – each receives a memorial ID card and t-shirt). Donors: Donate any amount to support the NYSAFC climb on-site or online. All proceeds will benefit the FDNY Counseling Unit and the NFFF to support the families of our nation’s fallen firefighters. Click here to participate or make a donation.

Cookin’ in the House: Chili Challenge
Calling all fire house chefs! There’s still time to sign up to compete in NYSAFC’s chili cook-off on Friday, June 17 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the Cypress Rooms! All proceeds will benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Click here to download a registration form to enter the competition. All attendees and exhibitors are welcome to attend. Tickets are $5 per person to sample all chili entries. They’ll be available at the NYSAFC booth (#3163) during FIRE 2016 exhibit hours and at the door.

Verona Fire Department Family Clambake
On Thursday, June 16 from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m., the Verona Fire Department will host a Family Clambake just minutes from the Turning Stone at Verona Firemen’s Field (5860 Rock Road, Verona, N.Y.). FIRE 2016 attendees and exhibitors are invited to attend. Tickets are available for $40 (with three dozen clams) and $20 (no clams), per person. Fire department buses will run to/from designated hotels. The Verona Fire Department provides logistical support to NYSAFC throughout the FIRE Expo. Click here to pre-order tickets. They’ll also be available on-site at the Believe 271 Foundation booth (Exhibit Space #3108) during exhibit hours.

Partners’ Program
The EDIAFC will host a Partners’ Program on Thursday, June 16 at 9:00 a.m., open to the guests of all FIRE 2016 and Annual Conference attendees. Registration is $60 per person for this year’s excursion, a Mid-Lakes Navigation luncheon cruise on nearby Skaneateles Lake. Registrants will also have the opportunity to visit shops and galleries located in historic downtown Skaneateles, N.Y. Registration includes three One Day Tickets for entry to the FIRE 2016 exhibits. Limited to 30 participants. Registrants will depart the Turning Stone by bus at 9:00 a.m. from the bus pick-up/drop-off area (lower level, near the Conference Center).
