Genesee-Finger Lakes Traffic Incident Management Symposium

The Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Symposium will provide TIM training for first responders in the nine-county Genesee-Finger Lakes region. The symposium will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015, from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at St. John Fisher College (3690 East Avenue, Rochester, NY 14618).

This daylong event will offer training sessions designed for responders in the field who respond to, manage, and clear incident scenes. An outside staging area will host several vehicles including a Highway Emergency Local Patrol (HELP) truck, the NYS DOT Incident Response Trailer, a NYS DEC Haz-Mat clean-up truck, a tow truck, and fire apparatus. Exhibitors will also be demonstrating TIM-related products such as cones, vests, and portable/mounted dynamic message signs.

Session topics will include:
  • First Responder Safety in Work Zones
  • Crash Reconstruction
  • Haz-Mat Response on Highways
  • NYS DOT Role in Incident Scene Management
  • Large Incident Case Study
  • Role of Towing Operators in Incident Management
Registration is $15 per person (lunch included). Firefighters, EMTs, and emergency management personnel are encouraged to attend. To register and for more details, click here.

The symposium is sponsored by the Genesee Transportation Council, New York State Traffic Incident Management Committee, Brighton Fire Department, Gates Fire District, Monroe County Volunteer Fire Police Association, and New York State Department of Transportation.
