By EMS Coordinator Mike McEvoy, Saratoga County
NYSAFC Director, EMS

At the October 2013 meetings of the State EMS Council, intranasal naloxone (Narcan) was approved for all levels of providers in New York state (from CFR through paramedic). This is based on a demonstration project in several regions where IN naloxone was administered by EMS providers to patients with suspected opioid overdoses. Watch for additional information from the Bureau of EMS on implementation of this potentially lifesaving new medication.
