NYSAFC Fall 2012 Seminar Series
"Modern House Fires: Strategic & Tactical Considerations for Success"
Lt. Chris Flatley, FDNY & Training Officer Jerry Knapp, West Haverstraw F.D.
Coming to Broome, Dutchess, Genesee, Oneida, Schenectady, & St. Lawrence Counties!
Three Americans will die each day in residential fires. It’s our most important and dangerous alarm, yet one that we’re too often unprepared for. Modern house fires present more of a challenge to both large and small fire departments. If you apply standard, time tested residential strategy and tactics learned and used years ago, you may well be setting yourself and your members up for disaster. This program will provide what you need to know to be aggressive, effective, and keep you and your members safe at your next house fire. Through interactive fireground simulations, on scene videos, case histories, and current research, you’ll learn the hazards of the modern house fire and strategic and tactical solutions to consider to make your department safe and efficient at these fires. Topics will include: strategy and tactics for private dwellings converted to multiple dwellings, new search and rescue strategies and techniques, rapid and unique fire spread in modular construction, ventilation strategy for all house fires, the critical importance of aggressive interior fire attack by delivering decisive amounts of water, and natural gas emergencies involving homes. Company Officers Leadership Training (COLT)
"Riding Forward" featuring:

"From the Fire House to the Fireground: What You Need to Know"
Lieutenant Tim Klett, FDNY & Chief Mike Lombardo, Buffalo F.D.

"Fire Station Leadership –
Essentials That Will Transform Your Fire Station and Your Life"

Retired Battalion Chief Mark Emery, Woodinville (WA) Fire & Rescue

Where do chiefs that recognize the need for leadership development send their officers for that type of training? NYSAFC’s COLT program. The demands on today’s fire officers are constantly increasing. Traditional training is not enough for today’s fire service leader. NYSAFC recognizes that leadership development is necessary now if we are to protect the future of the fire service. It is also crucial for chief officers to support those individuals performing the day-to-day operations of the fire department, as sharpening the leadership skills of your line officers will enhance the overall strength of your team. For the COLT program, NYSAFC has assembled this cadre of instructors, all nationally renowned experts in company officer leadership both on and off the fireground, for an energizing learning experience. "Leadership in the Real World"
Battalion Chief Robert Burns, FDNY

In today’s turbulent emergency services field, leadership is more important than ever. That’s why NYSAFC is pleased to offer its annual Emergency Services Leadership Symposium. There are many programs available on fire service strategies and tactics, but few opportunities for the advancement of leaders on and off the emergency scene. NYSAFC has assembled some of the best minds in leadership development for this weekend program that will help even the most seasoned veterans reestablish their vision and focus. Classroom sessions will provide you with the tools and support to begin thinking strategically for your organization, while emphasizing your professional development and personal growth. For further information and to pre-register, click here.
