NE/SAE in the Neighborhood events will give you an opportunity to discuss local issues with other association professionals. Or, just come and meet fellow NE/SAE members in person!

Join us for the March Think Tank for a discussion
on managing an overzealous committee.

No matter what organization or industry we serve, we've all dealt with the committee that gets ahead of itself or tries to run away with organization schedules or resources. How can we redirect that energy to better benefit the organization's mission and strategic goals?

NE/SAE Think Tanks are virtual opportunities for members to discuss timely topics, assess emerging trends, and share challenges and success stories with one another. Think Tanks are held on the last Tuesday of each month for one hour.

Registration is free for NE/SAE members, but pre-registration is required. Learn more about NE/SAE Think Tank discussions.

Past Think Tanks

After each Think Tank, NE/SAE creates a resource based on the key takeaways from our group discussion. Access the resources from our recent Think Tanks.

If you want to get a sense of the trust level in an association boardroom, just listen. If you’re not hearing much, that could be a sign of a problem.

“When I walk into a room and people are either not willing to share or are only half-sharing, that’s a problem,” said Lowell Aplebaum, FASAE, CAE, CEO of the leadership consultancy Vista Cova. “You can tell they’re holding back, not asking questions, or not listening.”

However, applying an ethical decision-making framework within the association space can be challenging. This presentation will provide a foundation of pertinent ethical principles, discuss a decision-making framework for ethical dilemmas, and engage the learner in assessing case studies related to the professional’s responsibility in context with association ethics.
