Congratulations to our 2018 Rising Star: Christine Cummings

Christine started working with the Retail Association of Maine three years ago as their program and membership manager. Part of the organization’s role was providing limited association management services to the Maine Grocers and Food Producers Association and Christine was responsible for that administrative role.

However, in early 2017, the longtime director of the Maine Grocers and Food Producers Association decided to relocate to Colorado and it created a unique opportunity to expand Christine's role with MGFPA. Consequently, the association agreed to provide full association management services to MGFPA with Christine being named the new executive director. Although she is young and had only a couple years working with a trade association, she has thrived in her new role. She quickly immersed herself in the organization and pulled off a successful golf tournament and annual meeting for MGFPA - all while preparing for the arrival of her first child. She returned from maternity leave in January and it's like she never left. She has quickly worked to help transform the MGFPA with new initiatives and program and is working hard to grow the organization. She is learning more about legislative advocacy, grassroots, and referendum campaigns going into 2018.

Christine attended her first year of the US Chamber of Commerce's Institute for Organization Management at Villanova in 2017 and was elected to the board of directors for the Maine Society of Association Executives.
