Interview with Christy Dancause
NE/SAE Chair, 2017-2018

What 3 words would you use to describe your year as Chair?
Innovation, community, strengthen.

What would you like to accomplish (or focus on) during your term as NE/SAE’s Chair?
NE/SAE has been doing great, and I only see increased potential as the organization grows. I plan to nurture the programs and offerings that are successful, and work with the volunteers to refresh and try some new things. I also hope to continue the great work that has already been done in engaging emerging leaders in the industry to provide additional offerings and opportunities as their careers develop.

How would you describe your Board?
The current NE/SAE board is extremely strong with a range of perspectives, strengths and represented industries that nicely mirror the membership. They are all hard working and dedicated to NE/SAE – and a fun group!

How have you participated in NE/SAE prior to your serving as Board Chair?
I have been a NE/SAE member for many years, and I have served on the education committee as both a participating member and committee chair.

Tell us about your job at ACG Boston.
I am currently the Executive Director of the Boston chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG Boston). Our members are New England-based professionals in mergers & acquisitions. I have been in this role for eight years, but with ACG Boston for 11 years total, initially starting as the Events Manager.

Where did you work prior to ACG Boston?
Prior to ACG I worked for Emerson College in their Off Campus housing office, and I started my association career with the Greater Boston Association of Realtors.

What if any changes do you anticipate in NE/SAE in the future?
I see NE/SAE adapting very well to the changing industry, and continuing to keep the membership informed, inspired and connected. The way those values are delivered may change as the industry and our members evolve, but I think the core purpose of NE/SAE will remain the same.

Why do you think people should volunteer for NE/SAE positions and leadership roles?
NE/SAE has such a great community of members who are not only dedicated to the industry and their jobs, but are truly willing to help one another. Volunteering for NE/SAE provides an even greater opportunity to learn from one another and develop a strong peer network of association professionals. That has been invaluable to me throughout my career.

What do you do for fun in your spare time?
With two young kids at home, my spare time is pretty limited, but I look forward to my early morning runs and testing out new, healthy recipes on my family.

Who is your biggest supporter in your life?
I feel very lucky to have a whole circle of family, friends and colleagues that have supported me throughout my life.

Tell us about your family.
My husband and I have a 6-year old-son and 8-year-old daughter keeping us on our toes!
