NAEP Friends Reunite
by Dick Worden, NAEP Upstate New York Co-President, New York Chiropractic College

On Thursday, August 8th six NAEP friends met for lunch at the Emerald Restaurant at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York. The site was chosen since it was approximately mid-point for all traveling.  This luncheon was planned to just get together and catch up on family and friends. It had been, for some, ten plus years since we all had the chance to reunite. What a great time it was to be able to see each other again, talk and laugh about great past times in life and NAEP both on the regional and national levels. We all discovered that we were now a little older and of course wiser, some with many grandchildren and most enjoying retirement to the fullest. Terry Tzitzis and Dick Worden have not retired to date but certainly it will be something they will consider in the future. All six friends are NAEP Upstate New York Past Presidents, some serving more than once as president throughout their careers – including Dick Worden who is currently serving in a Co-President status for this year. One friend that had planned to attend the luncheon was Jim Sheff, retired from SUNY Delhi, but sad to say Jim passed away a few weeks before the luncheon with an extended illness. Jim and family were certainly in our thoughts during our conversations and our sincere condolences go out to his family and friends. Friends are so precious in every sense of the word and our luncheon reminded us all of that fact.

If the six of us were to offer any suggestions to you it would be stay in touch with your loved ones and friends. If you can’t meet one on one, call them to say a friendly hello or text, email or even write a letter.  There are three key words here: “Stay in touch.” You won’t regret it.

Those attending the luncheon were:

From left to right:  Walter Wontz – Retired from SUNY New Paltz, Robert Mudge – Retired from Ithaca College, Dick Worden – New York Chiropractic College, Dona Hazen – Retired from SUNY Brockport, Glenn Morey – Retired from Cornell University and Terry Tzitzis – SUNY Fredonia.  Also attending the luncheon and not in the picture were Pam Wontz wife of Walter Wontz and Craig Hazen husband of Dona Hazen.
