The NAEP Procurement Academy is our flagship program. To ensure that procurement professionals can perform successfully and help prepare their institutions for the future, we offer the NAEP Procurement Academy.  NAEP University’s Procurement Academy offers an assessment-based certificate course of study mapped to NAEP’s Competency Model. As a result, you can develop skills and increase capabilities in competencies expected of your position and experience level within higher education.  The Academy is delivered in three Tiers. Each Tier provides professionals with best practices, insider intelligence and market knowledge needed to propel your career.

Procurement Academy
August 6-8, 2018
Hanover, MD, near BWI airport

Tier I is for early career professionals or professionals new to higher ed procurement. Objectives of this course focus on fundamental administrative processes and systems. It aligns to three major competencies: Ethical Practice, Effective Performance and Communication.

In-depth module topics include the following:

  • Your Role in Your Education Procurement Team
  • Fundamentals of Contract Law

These sessions examine fundamental purchasing skills, techniques and practices, the acquisition cycle, ethics in professional relationships, legal aspects of the procurement process in conjunction with written and verbal communication skills. This tier is geared towards positions such as: Procurement Assistant, Procurement Analyst, Buyer

Tier II is for the mid-level career professional who manages a program and/or people within the procurement department. Some areas of focus are Communication, Strategic Agility and Relationship Building.

  • Contract Development & Management
  • Ethics in Practice

These session topics include negotiation principals and strategies, specification development, protective covenants and caveats, procedural integrity, evaluation and award, customer service in purchasing and ethical considerations. This course is ideal for the following procurement positions: Buyer, Procurement Analyst, Pcard Administrator, Procurement Systems Manager, Senior Buyer, Commodity Manager, Supplier Diversity Manager, Category Lead, Strategic Procurement Specialist/Manager

The top tier of the Academy focuses on relationship building, strategic agility, and leadership. If you lead a team or direct a component of it this is the leadership training for you.

This tier is ideal if you are curerntly in one of the following positions (or you asipre to be): Associate Director, Assistant Director, Director, Assistant Vice President, Vice President, Chief Procurement Officer.
