Dear Colleagues,

As we begin a new semester, we would like to provide a summary as to the activities and operations of the Association and the status of the CEO Search. The new year brings potential for new opportunities and we are working diligently to implement as many as possible in anticipation of our Annual Meeting in April.

Operational Transition

As previously communicated, Melanie Freeman has temporarily assumed an Interim CEO position. Melanie and the NAEP staff continue to work on goals which expand and enhance member benefits.

State of the Association

Based on feedback from membership, we will be providing a State of the Association update for membership as part of the Annual Meeting. We anticipate discussing the status of the Association’s membership and current financial status as well as any new initiatives. As we move forward and implement improved business practices and governance for the Association, it is our desire and intent to share those updates with our membership on a more frequent basis.

We are happy to report that registrations for our Annual Meeting are coming in at a record pace. This year’s program is one of the most diverse in recent years. If you haven’t already registered for the Meeting, information can be located at: http://www.naepnet.org/page/AM2018Home.

CEO Search

We have received many inquiries regarding the CEO Search process. Our goal in the search process is to be transparent and inclusive and solicit as much member feedback as possible. The effort will be led by a team comprised of a diverse group of members. As we work to develop this process, we will ask members to participate in an initial survey to assist the search team to identify qualities and skills needed for our CEO.

We look forward to a collegial and collaborative process. While we initially named Kelly Kozisek as Chair and she has been gathering initial information, she will be transitioning Chair responsibilities to NAEP’s Senior Vice President, Nichol Luoma who will be the Chair going forward until the search is completed. The transition is occurring to ensure Board leadership continuity during the duration of the search timeline.  Nichol will be sending out a communication later this week that will outline the process and a link to a survey for member ideas as well as a submission of interest to participate.

It is our hope that as further information and requests for participation are shared, our members continue to provide feedback and volunteer! We appreciate the continuing support as we advance the Association forward in 2018.

Regards,
Rosey Murton
President
