NENA NEWS
Attendees of our conference are always looking for new and better ways of doing things in their professional and personal lives. Feedback from previous conferences shows that attendees expect to walk out of each breakout with key takeaways that are new and can be immediately implemented when they return to their offices.

This is where we want your help. The NENA 2015 Conference Team is looking for session proposals in the following topic areas: Accessibility; Analytics & Big Data; Applications & Technology Innovation; Call Taking & Processing; Data Management & Utilization; GIS; Hiring & Staffing; Interpersonal Issues; Leadership & Management; Next Generation 9-1-1; Personal & Professional Development; Preparedness & Contingency Planning; PSAP Administration; Public Education & Outreach; Regulation, Policy, & Governance; Stress, Health, & Wellness; Text Messaging; Training; and Wireless Challenges.

To ensure your submission receives due consideration, please ensure that:
  • Your proposal is issue-focused, not product-focused;
  • Your 65-word presentation description contains a precise objective and a clear audience takeaway; and
  • You use proper grammar, capitalization, and punctuation.
Submit your great ideas by October 31, 2014. The online submission form for session abstracts is available at www.nena.org/nena2015/cfp. You can email Chris Nussman with any questions you may have.

At the NENA Development Conference, the event’s unique, output-oriented program offers you the flexibility to focus on the issues that are important to you in a dynamic, cooperative atmosphere. The important, hands-on work done during the event not only yields immediate rewards for the public safety community, but also bolsters NENA’s current standards development and helps define the Association’s path forward for the next year. During the fast-paced, informative day-and-a-half NG9-1-1 Critical Issues Forum, you will hear from leaders in the field and gain the insights you need to navigate through the challenges ahead. Everyone involved in 9-1-1, from 9-1-1 authority personnel and county managers to PSAP managers, supervisors, and telecommunicators, will leave this event with an NG9-1-1 Preparation Checklist and a clear understanding of where we are, where we’re going, and, most importantly, how to get there.

OPS UPDATE
Colorado began working on becoming active approximately seven years ago. Dianne Russell and Joe Ribiero were the state coordinators at that time.

"They worked very hard in creating a mutual aid agreement between Colorado TERT and the state; we were just never able to get to those final stages. I took over as state coordinator in 2013 and have been working with and tirelessly harassing the State Resource Ordering manager Bill Miederhoff. With his help and support, we were able to create an agreement with the state that qualified us to be TERT active.

This has been a huge accomplishment for our state and absolutely would not be possible without all of the help from our 11 Regional Coordinators and all of our TERT members who have continued to work toward this goal. We all are passionate about TERT and firmly believe in dispatchers helping dispatchers. Natalie Duran's continued support for our state and our members has been immeasurable. On behalf of Colorado TERT, we thank you.

Colorado Regional Coordinators are now working on contacting every Comm Center in our state, sending them a TERT survey and agreement to sign as well as update our data base of TERT members. This is proving to be very time consuming as well, but as proven, we are very patient...and persistent!"
