NENA dispatch
Latest News

As part of NENA's 9-1-1 Education Month activities for 2019, the association today announced the debut of a nationwide PSA campaign featuring the star of Fox's hit show 9-1-1, Angela Bassett. The thirty-second PSA, focused on providing the public with tips on what to do when calling 9-1-1, will run as part of the pre-show in select movie theaters nationwide from April 5-18. With an anticipated viewership of more than two million, this campaign represents one of the largest public education efforts ever undertaken by the association.

"National 9-1-1 Education Month is all about informing the public about what to do when calling 9-1-1," said NENA CEO, Brian Fontes. "NENA is so grateful to Ms. Bassett for filming this PSA, as well as the team at Screenvision Media for donating screen time to help get this important message out to a huge national audience."

NENA is working on something special in celebration of 9-1-1 Education Month and Telecommunicator Week that we need your help with! We're looking for ~high resolution~ (at least a few MB in size) pictures of 9-1-1 folks; specifically, we need your best shots of dispatchers at their consoles (either looking at their screens or at the camera) and/or group photos of your team together (preferably in uniform). Email them to Chris Nussman by mid-day Thursday, if possible. Thank you in advance!

At NENA 2019, you will not only hear about the public safety issues of today and tomorrow, but also gain practical, real-world know-how that you can take home with you and put into action immediately. Featuring inspiring keynote speakers, more than ninety hours of breakout sessions that inform and empower, career-building courses and workshops with real-world applications, nightly networking events that help you make the right connections, and an Expo Hall showcasing cutting-edge products and services, NENA 2019 is the must-attend event of the year. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of it!
