100 Ways to Show Appreciation
Wednesday, February 26 | 3PM Eastern (live) or On-Demand
FREE for NENA Members | Click here to register!

In today’s 9-1-1 centers, employee appreciation isn’t just a nice gesture—it’s essential. Organizations that actively recognize and value their employees see higher morale, increased motivation, and stronger retention. But appreciation goes beyond a simple "thank you"—it’s about fostering a culture where employees feel seen, valued, and connected to their team.

This webinar equips you with practical, meaningful ways to show appreciation and encourage a sense of belonging. Attend to gain:

  • A clear understanding of what appreciation truly means and why it matters;
  • Guidance on how and when to express appreciation for the greatest impact; and
  • Best practices, resources, and handouts to bring these ideas to life in your center.

This month's #WebinarWednesday is sponsored by NGA. NGA is a complete, highly configurable, and reliable NG9-1-1 solution bringing secure, affordable 9-1-1 Cloud services to anywhere in the world. Our incremental deployment and patented technologies are poised to smoothly transition legacy 9-1-1 systems to the future of emergency services, with the latest NG9-1-1 technology available. Document Announcements

The newly-resvied, ANSI-approved NENA Standard for the Conveyance of Emergency Incident Data Objects (EIDOs) Between Next Generation (NG9-1-1) Systems and Applications includes methods for resource discovery and push notifications for requests for service, requests for awareness, and responses thereto. Other changes include corrections, clarifications, and other improvements.

Thank you to the EIDO Conveyance Working Group members for committing their time and expertise to establishing this standard.

The ANSI-approved NENA Standard for 911/988 Interactions provides recommendations and best practices to help callers who are experiencing mental health crises. It outlines operational and technical considerations for ECCs/PSAPs to establish an effective working relationship with the 988 community.

Thank you to the 911/988 Interactions Working Group members for committing their time and expertise to establishing this standard.

The Monitoring Association (TMA) Standards Committee has received confirmation from ANSI that the Public Comment Period for its TMA-ATN-01 Monitoring Center Notification of Active Threat Detection is officially open through April 1, 2025.

The standard outlines a uniform approach to handling active threat events, acknowledges, integrates various detection technologies, and provides detailed guidelines on record-keeping, data management, and process monitoring. The goal of this standard is to significantly enhance the synergy between the security industry and public safety, fostering a safer environment through more informed and rapid responses to active threats.

All comments must be received through the TMA website before 8:00 PM ET on April 1, 2025. All interested may access the draft document here and the TMA online comment form here

Having adjudicated all comments, the NENA Virtual PSAP Management Standard is now considered "stable." Per NENA Development Group Operational Procedures Section 3.3.2.6, a "Stable Form Notice" is being issued and can be viewed here.

Volunteers Wanted

NENA seeks volunteers for the PCA Clarification Working Group. The PCA Clarification Working Group will create an Information document on PSAP Credentialing Agency (PCA) Use Clarifications and Implementation Guidelines. The document will explain what the PCA does, including straightforward descriptions of when PCA certificates would be used in practical terms.

The working group seeks experts in cybersecurity, especially Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technology, and individuals familiar with the security functions in NG9-1-1, including the i3 standard. We are also looking for operations personnel to provide input on the plain-language descriptions of security functions to ensure that the content is understandable to the user community.

NENA working groups seek operational and technical subject matter experts in the User, Producer, and General Interest categories, as defined in Section 3 Document Development Process of the NENA Development Operational Procedures, NENA-ADM-001.5b-2022.

The Working Group meets weekly on Mondays from 1:00 - 2:00 PM ET, with the first meeting on Monday March 17, 2025.

NENA seeks volunteers for the NENA Emergency Telephone Notification Systems Working Group to shepherd the draft of NENA Minimum Standards for Emergency Notification Systems through the document approval process. The working group has revised the current standard intended to provide guidance to the public safety and private sector communities on operational, administrative and procedural issues – along with general technical considerations – germane to the proper acquisition, implementation, and management of an Emergency Notification System.

A variety of expertise is sought from the public safety and 9-1-1 industries as well as those with experience in communications center personnel operations. Specifically, the working group seeks to add members in the 'Producer' interest category, although we welcome all who want to participate. As defined in Section 3 Document Development Process of the NENA Development Operational Procedures, a Producer is a developer or provider of 9-1-1 related products or services.

The Working Group meets every other Tuesday from 11:00PM - 12:PM Eastern.
