NENA Hearing Standard Available for Public Review

The NENA Hearing Standard for Public Safety Telecommunicators is available for Public Review and Comment. This document is provided to assist PSAPs in establishing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant hearing standards for  telecommunicators. Telecommunicators receive and process audible information from various devices, and must be able to differentiate and process numerous non-verbal audible alarms and indicators. Therefore, the standard has been created to assist managers in developing minimum hearing standards required to perform telecommunicator job functions.

Download the document for review and submit your comments here. All comments are due by midnight Eastern on  March 27, 2019. Contact the NENA Committee Resource Manager with any questions or concerns.
