NENA has released the final report for its 12th Industry Collaboration Event (ICE 12), which brought together two dozen public safety technology companies from Oct. 21 to Oct. 25, 2024. Hosted at the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Real-Time Communications Lab in Wheaton, Ill., ICE 12 enabled vendors to collaboratively test cutting-edge solutions designed to transition public safety communications from legacy E9-1-1 systems to the advanced, data-rich, IP-based framework of Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1).

The event featured rigorous, standards-driven testing of End-to-End PSAP interoperability and cybersecurity, marking a pivotal step towards interoperability based on NENA’s i3 Standard Version 3. A new Mid-Year Validation Event in June 2024, preceding the in-person ICE 12 gathering, allowed participants to retest scenarios from ICE 11, providing valuable insights and ensuring readiness for the main event.
