Volunteer for the GIS Data Model Templates Working Group

NENA seeks volunteers for a new working group to update the NG9-1-1 GIS Data Model templates (NENA-REF-006) to align with the changes made in version 2 of the recently published NG9-1-1 GIS Data Model (NENA-STA-006.2) and test loading data into the new templates. There are two versions of the templates to be updated:

  • An open source version based on a PostgreSQL/PostGIS database
  • A version based on the Esri File Geodatabase

The co-chairs have already incorporated the changes between NENA-STA-006.1-2018 and NENA-STA-006.2-2022 that are identified in the "Reason for Issue/Reissue" section in v2 of NENA-STA-006 into the templates. However, a layer-by-layer and field-by-field review is required to identify other changes that may not be explicitly documented within the "Reason for Issue/Reissue" section. Other WG activities and discussions will include FGDB & PostgreSQL version target, a review of existing instructional documentation for FGDB and PostgreSQL deployment, and incorporation of additional NENA registry entries. WG members will be required to help test the updated templates by loading data into the templates and reporting on issues found.

Volunteers for this work group should have a solid understanding of the NENA Standard for NG9-1-1 GIS Data Model (NENA-STA-006.2-2022) and be detail-orientated. Participants should have access to development GIS databases (Esri File or enterprise Geodatabase or PostgreSQL/PostGIS) that can be used to test the template(s). Familiarity with using Git for version control is desired, but not required.

Participants must have experience with at least one the following:

  • Esri File Geodatabases
  • PostgreSQL/PostGIS databases

When signing up for the WG, please document which of these databases you have experience with and whether or not you have experience using Git for version control in the "Knowledge, Skills, Abilities You Offer" section of the form.

Weekly 60-minute calls will be held on Wednesdays, 12-1PM Eastern, beginning November 16.
