Does Your Member of Congress Support Reclassification?

The 911 SAVES Act of 2021 (H.R. 2351) has been included in the U.S. House of Representatives' version of the 2022 National Defense Authorization (NDAA), which is considered a "must pass" bill. This step brings the 911 SAVES Act closer to becoming reality, but it's not a sure thing yet.

Since 911 SAVES was reintroduced on April 1 by Reps. Norma Torres (D-CA) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), over 100 members of Congress have signed on as cosponsors of the bill. A Senate companion bill (S. 1175) has also been reintroduced by Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Richard Burr (R-NC).

But we cannot stop there. Let's keep up the momentum and let Congress know that the 9-1-1 community supports reclassification. It's imperative that we recognize the essential and challenging service that 9-1-1 professionals provide.

You can help us by joining our grassroots campaign and asking your members of Congress to cosponsor the bill and support its final enactment.

You can find the current list of cosponsors here to see if your representative supports 9-1-1 reclassification. A list of current sponsors of the Senate bill can be found here.
