ICYMI: Newly-Installed NENA President Emphasizes the Importance of Increasing Wellness in 9-1-1

On June 18, at the NENA 2019 Conference and Expo, Monica Million, ENP was sworn in as the President of NENA: The 9-1-1 Association’s Board of Directors. She now leads the organizations nearly 15,000 members in advancing NENA’s mission to improve 9-1-1 through research, standards development, training, education, outreach, and advocacy.
After being sworn in, Ms. Million offered a motivating speech on the vital need to combat the stress 9-1-1 professionals face on a daily basis. "We’ve just scratched the surface when it comes to self- and team-care. We’ve only begun to acknowledge ? and fight against ? the negative impact of this profession on our lives," said Million. "NENA will be the repository for all-things wellness for our 9-1-1 family. We have a team of subject matter experts committed to updating our standard on stress management, and we have others working to ensure that the NENA website provides the tools and resources [9-1-1 professionals] need to stay healthy ? physically, mentally, and organizationally."
