Major League Soccer team honored 9-1-1 professionals at July 1 game

For the second year in a row, the San Jose Earthquakes showed their support for "the unsung heroes of public safety" by hosting and saluting a group of 9-1-1 professionals at Stanford Stadium on July 1 as the Quakes beat the L.A. Galaxy in the biggest California soccer match of the MLS season, the California Clasico.

The Quakes and their home stadium sponsor, Avaya, rolled out the red carpet by arranging:
  • Free tickets for more than 70 San Mateo and Santa Clara County 9-1-1 call takers, courtesy of Avaya and the Quakes;
  • A #ThankYou911 campaign tribute video on the big screen; and
  • Special greetings and outreach by Quakes players to the public safety community.

Staff and volunteers from NENA were on site and engaged with fans, distributed 9-1-1 public education giveaways, and provided information about the organization’s #ThankYou911 campaign.
