It started earlier than usual, peaked earlier than usual and was responsible for more adult hospitalizations and child deaths than a typical year. (1) The flu dominated the headlines for most of December and January. Even with all of the media attention and the seriousness of the virus, only 35 percent of all adults got a flu shot last year, and only 24 percent of typical working-age adults (age 18-49) were vaccinated. Human resources professionals typically fall into one of two camps when it comes to employer branding: the "Let's do it!" people and those who say, "Do we have to?" While employer branding is not mandatory for HR professionals, it conveys the organization's reputation and image as an employer internally and to outside audiences. Ironically, even those companies that choose not to actively pursue an employer brand get branded anyway. In these cases, employees and others outside of the company shape the brand — for better or worse. Which is why most organizations choose to take control of the branding message.
