“We live in a world of profound inequity and inequality.” These powerful, first words of activist and fundraiser Dan Pallotta not only referred to the situations such as veterans who do not receive health services, Puerto Rico residents who are desperate for aid after a hurricane’s destruction or blight within U.S. inner cities – they also refer to the double standard that prevents not-for-profit organizations from growing their ability to support research for disease or provide services to those who need them.
