Every year since 2011, Naylor has surveyed association executives across industries throughout the U.S. and Canada to gauge how successfully associations are communicating with their members. The newly released 2018 Association Communications Benchmarking Report shows the needs for a balanced approach to technology and tradition as associations strive to cut through the clutter that we all face in our day-to-day professional lives.

Naylor Association Solutions President & CEO Alex DeBarr recently talked with Association Adviser about maximizing member engagement, creating new opportunities and driving non-dues revenue.HOW SHOULD ASSOCIATIONS THINK ABOUT ENGAGEMENT?
Associations should make strong engagement a top priority. Engagement simply means providing meaningful content and person-to-person opportunities to their members and markets. These come in print, in person and online – in a way that captures their attention, helps inform them, creates opportunity and drives an action. That action might be using engaging content to think through a business problem, making plans to attend an event, creating a conversation at an event, seeing great career opportunities on a job board or researching a vendor.
