Events and Digital Top Valued Engagement Tools

The “tools of the trade” for associations are the glue that holds the membership together. If not for various points of contact via in-person events and digital, print and video multimedia, associations would cease to exist. One of the cornerstone benchmarks of this report is the measurement of how effective these tools are in engaging members. While there is some movement in the report’s ranking this year, the two most valuable tools continue to be traditional conferences/trade shows/face-to-face events (91%) and email blasts (87%). Enewsletters and association websites switched places this year, with both garnering a preferable engagement medium in 8 out of 10 respondents. In the digital world, there were clear winners in social media – Instagram and LinkedIn. Annual reports (both print and digital) showed an uptick in interest, most likely from associations showing transparency in hopes to cultivate trust, build membership, and encourage more non-dues revenue.
