Industry Update
Tools & Tiaras has published the first episode of their new podcast, Tradeswomen Talk!

More than talks and taglines, safety is operational. It needs to be embedded in all processes, led from the top down, empowering teams to do what’s right and supporting proper habits on the ground.

One would be hard-pressed to find any construction industry player that hasn't been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. While a few U.S. jurisdictions have banned construction work altogether, many more have limited which projects can move forward.

However, according to John Robbins, managing director and USA and North America head of real estate for Turner & Townsend, developers and contractors that find their project pipelines in a stall pattern still have plenty of planning to do for the reboot of work. Some experts say this could come as soon as the next few weeks while others say it might be in a few months.

One thing is certain: When construction comes back to full strength, U.S. contractors will face some new short-term and long-term realities.

On a normal day on the job site at 121 North Beech St. in Portland, Oregon, subcontractors, trade workers and foremen would crowd into one room for morning briefings, chat in the lines for the food trucks, eat together at packed tables and pass tools around without a second thought. But these are far from normal days.
The coronavirus pandemic, affecting every facet of life in the U.S., is generating unprecedented levels of uncertainty for the construction industry. The news is changing every day, and to help readers make sense of how the outbreak will impact their businesses, Construction Dive is tracking the daily headlines from around the web that matter most to the nation’s contractors.
