Did you know NAWIC is the official owner of the registered trademark WIC Week®? This mark is registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. As you plan your WIC Week® events, web pages, and social media posts, remember to reinforce the trademark. While WIC Week® has expanded to other industries within construction, it was originally created by NAWIC members, and the registered trademark is a distinction that members should be proud of. For guidance, see how the national WIC Week® uses the trademark effectively or email nawic@nawic.org for specific guidelines.

The NAWIC National Office is pleased to welcome Chantel Bartlett as our new Assistant Director, Programs and Events. In this senior leadership role, Chantel will be responsible for developing and overseeing core programs like the Leadership Academy, Mentor Certification, and Board/Chapter trainings. She will also manage conference speaker engagement and advance our national e-learning strategy, collaborating across national committees to fulfill the organization’s strategic goals. Welcome to the NAWIC family, Chantel!

We are improving data privacy by updating our Member Directory distribution practice. Membership directory reports are sent monthly to Chapter Presidents, Membership Chairs, and National Directors, to support their NAWIC roles. Members can submit requests for messages or notices for distribution to specific segments or the entire membership by emailing nawic@nawic.org. To promote member engagement while protecting privacy, we will be piloting a new feature within the NAWIC Mobile app in the coming weeks. For more details on this update instituted to safeguard member privacy, watch CEO Sheronda Carr’s video.

Remember to use our official hashtags and tag the NAWIC National account when posting about NAWIC (on both affiliated and personal pages). This alignment allows the National team to easily like, comment, and repost your content, maximizing its visibility and traction.

Industry Update
CEO Sheronda Carr and President Rita Brown represented NAWIC at the Chicago Build Expo on October 29th and 30th! They spent time connecting with industry professionals, connecting with new and prospective members, networking, and powerfully spreading the word about NAWIC's mission.
Northeast Region Director, Jillian Penkin, organized the WNY Tradeswomen’s Summit, which is an annual incubator for all genders to convene, and address issues, opportunities, and gain clarity on topics of concern to women in the industry.  Attendees, speakers, and participating organizations take this opportunity to build community within their own established systems, as well as reaching across trades to connect and exchange ideas.
ABC Western Michigan recently welcomed NAWIC member and Parliamentarian Doreen Bartoldus as the featured speaker for their "Built by Women Industry Event." Doreen's address offered inspiration while celebrating the vital strength, leadership, and innovation contributed by women in construction and the skilled trades.
NAWIC National Staff successfully partnered with the Lean Construction Institute (LCI), exhibiting at their national conference from October 22nd to 24th. This high-profile presence was instrumental in raising awareness of NAWIC's mission, as Assistant Director Amber and Membership Manager Sarah fostered valuable industry connections, networked with prospective sponsors, and engaged directly with several of our dedicated members.
NAWIC will be exhibiting at the upcoming Global Advance Work Packaging (AWP) & Advanced Project Delivery Conference, taking place on November 19-20 in Houston. Hosted by the APDA, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing outcomes in capital projects, this conference highlights the latest in advanced project delivery methods. This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with heavy industry construction council members and showcase NAWIC’s commitment to advancing construction excellence.
