Financial Planning Association Award Winners

Scott Kahan, CFP®, has won the Financial Planning Association’s P. Kemp Fain Jr. Award for “individuals who have had a significant impact on the financial planning profession.” FPA President Dennis Moore, CFP®, says, “For many years, Scott has been a passionate advocate for financial planning and took important action to lead efforts to strengthen FPA and the profession.”

Moisand Transforming Wealth Management

The experience of Dan Moisand, CFP®, at influential financial planning organizations, including NAPFA, “will prove crucial as the CFP Board takes further steps to bulk up its sanction process, collaborates as a key stakeholder in advocacy efforts among organizations like those on Moisand’s past resume and boosts representation of women and minorities among planners through its Center for Financial Planning,” says “23 people who will leave a mark on wealth management in 2023” in Financial Planning magazine. Moisand is the incoming chair of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards.

NAPFA Member Is “Woman to Watch”

Komal Motwani, CFP®, was named a member of the 2022 InvestmentNews Women to Watch Awards’ Portfolio Power Performers. Her approach to investing emphasizes, “Time in the market is more important than timing the market.”

Registration Open for NAPFA Regional Symposiums

NAPFA’s 2023 regional symposiums will kick off with the West Region Symposium on Feb. 3 at BlackRock in San Francisco.

The South Region Symposium will be held Feb. 6 at Dimensional Fund Advisors in Charlotte, NC, preceded by an optional ethics course on the evening of Sunday, Feb. 5.

The Midwest Region Symposium will take place Feb. 26–27 at the Ritz Carlton in St. Louis.

The Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Region Symposium will be held March 26–27 at the Boston University Photonics Center.

NAPFA Scholarship Applications Open Feb. 7

Applications for scholarships to the NAPFA Spring Conference in San Diego will open on Feb. 7. There are NAPFA Genesis; Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Region; West Region; NAPFA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; and Diahann W. Lassus scholarships that cover conference registration and more. All scholarship applications are open through March 17, and all scholarships will be awarded by March 27.
