Introducing NAPFA’s Next CEO

By Jeff Jones, NAPFA Chair

In November 2022, a group of NAPFA member volunteers, aided by Vetted Solutions, a CEO search firm based in Washington, DC, launched a nationwide search for NAPFA’s next CEO. More than 200 resumes poured in from across the country. A rigorous process whittled that list down to the top candidates, including practitioners, academics, and association management professionals. One candidate clearly rose to the top.

Introducing Kathryn Dattomo

It is with great pleasure that I introduce you to NAPFA’s next CEO: Kathryn Dattomo. Kathryn comes to NAPFA with 20 years of experience and will lead the association into our 40th year. She has extensive experience in association management, strategic planning, non-dues revenue, marketing and communications, educational programming, member engagement, and foundation management. Her strategic drive and distinguished career make her the perfect choice to lead our association.

Kathryn began her tenure as NAPFA’s CEO on March 13. “As a veteran association professional, I’m very excited to join NAPFA, the leading organization for Fee-Only financial advisors,” she said. “NAPFA’s commitment to professional development and member success mirrors my own values, and I look forward to upholding the organization’s strong priorities and expanding its reach to advance NAPFA, the member community, and the financial planning profession.”

I had the personal pleasure of getting to know Kathryn through the interview process, virtually and in person. Her passion—mirrored by our association’s myriad volunteer professionals—is contagious, and I do not doubt that she is the right person for the job. I’m looking forward to many years of her leadership at the helm of NAPFA.

Meet Kathryn and Celebrate NAPFA’s 40th Anniversary!

In my last column, I talked about NAPFA’s history, and in May, we will gather for our spring national conference in San Diego, where we’ll celebrate, and you’ll have the chance to meet Kathryn in person. If you can’t attend the San Diego conference, join us in October in Louisville, KY, for the fall national conference, where we’ll continue our celebrations and recognition of NAPFA members, both new and longtime.
