 NAPA's Government & Regulatory Affairs team has been working throughout the spring on issues related to PFAS, shorthand for per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances, which are sometimes referred to as “forever chemicals.” NAPA submitted two major sets of comments regarding the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) proposed 2026 Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) for Stormwater discharge from mix plants. NAPA also offered an update on the state of PFAS regulation at the federal level: "NAPA continues to explore all avenues for providing some type of liability exemption for ‘passive receivers’ of PFAS-containing raw materials, which could potentially include mix producers." 
 The best and brightest among NAPA members' emerging leaders will gather this September in Savannah for the 2025 IMPACT Leadership Conference. Host hotel The Desoto, located just 12 miles from the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, will serve as the backdrop for three days of learning, networking, and growing for up-and-coming leaders from across the asphalt pavement industry. 
 
 
 Engineers and academics alike will provide a one-year update from the Balanced Mix Design Implementation Working Group (BMD IWG) on June 4, sharing the key accomplishments, insights, and next steps in advancing BMD. Established to facilitate collaboration among NAPA members, agencies, and academia to address both technical and managerial challenges associated with BMD, the Working Group will highlight major deliverables, including Balanced Mix Design Guidance outlining the engineering, economic, and environmental impacts of different BMD strategies.  
 
  
 NAPA's Pavement Economics Committee (PEC) is looking to explore the performance of advanced asphalt materials and mix designs in high-stress applications, launching a Request for Proposals (RFP) centered on the subject. The PEC has made up to $75,000 in funding available for this 12-month contract. Access the RFP. Proposals are due June 13.
