On April 15, NAPA Vice President for Engineering, Research, and Technology Richard Willis will become the Chair of the Transportation Research Board’s AKM10 Committee – Production and Use of Asphalt.

The U.S. Department of Energy has released the first federal blueprint to decarbonize America’s building sector. While the document does not specifically address asphalt, it does signal the federal government’s intent to focus on embodied carbon as a significant lever for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
 
 
 
 
 
NAPA joins the friends and family of Richard Root in mourning his death.
 
Root, of Root Pavement Technologies, was an active NAPA committee member and served as president of the Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists (AAPT) in 1985. He eventually became President/Owner of the Chicago Testing Laboratory and was known as an international expert in asphalt pavements. He taught mix design methodology to hundreds of Department of Transportation and contractor personnel through his work with the lab.
