 The U.S. Department of Transportation declared open season on innovation July 17, with an unprecedented event at its headquarters that brought together stakeholders from the public and private sector to mark the release of a Request for Information as well as the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. The America is Building Again: Surface Transportation Event brought together representatives from across the road construction space to mark the kickoff of Surface Transportation Reauthorization efforts. Representing NAPA at the event were, pictured from left, NAPA Government Affairs Director Mitch Baldwin, NAPA President & CEO Audrey Copeland, and NAPA Vice President for Government Affairs Nile Elam. 
 After further assessment of NAPA’s June 6 notice, and pending both (NAPA external) legal review and EPA’s stated reconsideration of the (TCE) rule, NAPA recommends each company assess their TCE (and other chlorinated solvent) exposure monitoring compliance deadlines.  
 
  
 Just like our members, we’re continually innovating and adapting to provide the best quality services. As of Monday, July 21, we have updated some backend integrations to improve email service.  You shouldn’t notice any difference at all. But, just in case, we’re letting you know. If something goes awry and you receive an unexpected email from us over the next day or two, don’t panic!  
  
 Members of Congress are already publicly sharing their ideas for the next highway bill, so now is the time to schedule plant tours, job site visits, and meetings with your representatives. The August recess presents many opportunities for visits when lawmakers return to their districts, and NAPA is ready to help. This fall also figures to be a major opportunity for NAPA members to make their influence on the national asphalt pavement industry and beyond when NAPA members return to Capitol Hill for Hill Day Sept. 17-18.

 The NAPA 2025 Midyear Meeting brought the asphalt pavement industry together in Louisville, Kentucky, for a midsummer review of best practices and challenges facing the industry. Safety took center stage during the opening General Session on Wednesday, while programming continued Thursday and Friday with general sessions and micro sessions aimed at spurring discussions on workforce solutions, federal funding forecasts, and work zone safety.
