 The NAPA 2025 Midyear Meeting will be held in Kentucky this summer from July 8-11. Asphalt pavement industry leaders will gather in Louisville for four days of networking, discussing challenges, and planning for the future. Running midweek from Tuesday through Friday, Midyear attendees will have ample opportunity to explore the region through optional activities from bouldering and bargain-hunting to BMX and bourbon. 
 Astec's main facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is set to host two immersive days of leadership development, industry insight, and meaningful connections May 13-14. The 2025 Women of Asphalt Executive Seminar is designed for professional growth, industry insight, and executive-level connection. “This seminar isn’t just for executives,” according to the Women of Asphalt website. “It’s designed for anyone looking to level up their leadership and professional development skills, no matter your title or role."  
 
  
 Executive Director of the Wisconsin Asphalt Pavement Association Deb Schwerman joins Richard and Brett in the latest episode of Pave It Black. Schwerman has worn many hats in the asphalt pavement industry, from inspecting roads in the field to testing mixes in the lab to now leading association initiatives, and she shares how she’s navigated the transitions between the public and private sectors while staying rooted in her values.   
  
 The transportation research nonprofit TRIP continues to monitor transportation trends at the state level, having released four reports since March. TRIP published its data on Maryland, Louisiana, West Virginia, and Oklahoma this year as part of its series of state reports. Each April, NAPA members join with the rest of the road construction industry in marking National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) with messaging aimed at encouraging safe driving behaviors when motorists approach and pass by work zones. The North Carolina Department of Transportation officially kicked off NWZAW on April 22. Read more. When motorists approach work zones they should keep these three things in mind: 
 
 The TCC Fly-In is set for May 7-8 at the Hilton Washington DC National Mall The Wharf. "With a new presidential administration, more than 70 new members of Congress, and the reauthorization of highway and public transportation programs on the agenda, the transportation construction industry must engage Congress to ensure recent investments in roads, bridges and public transportation systems can continue," according to the Transportation Construction Coalition (TCC) website.  NAPA is working with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to determine the amount of hot-mix asphalt (HMA), warm-mix asphalt (WMA), and recycled materials being produced and used in each state. Asphalt Mix Producers are encouraged to help NAPA gather 2024 construction season data by completing these surveys by June 2.
