NAPA members joined their colleagues from other trade associations in the road construction space in Washington, D.C. last week as part of Hill Day, the industry’s collective advocacy push to engage with lawmakers about challenges in horizontal construction. Congress was in session, meaning members were meeting with their representatives and their staff in between votes in the Capitol, including one that confirmed a new leader of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
NAPA has three webinars slated for October aimed at improving performance at airfields, mastering asphalt mix selection, and exploring the use of recycled plastics:
On Sept. 23, Asphalt Pavement Alliance (APA) Technical Director Buzz Powell will help webinar attendees explore the technical resources available and better understand the reality of pavement type selection and its impact on pavement life and costs during Pavement Type Selection. Powell will also lead a review of the comprehensive pavement type selection process. ![]()

NAPA’s Associate Member Council is holding its elections to allow new participants to join the 21-member group. NAPA members can review candidate-provided write-ups and cast a ballot for up to seven individuals through Friday, Oct. 3.
The Road Forward International Summit in Chicago Sept. 29-Oct. 1 will provide an unparalleled platform for discussion on sustainable pavement technologies utilized the world over, as well as networking with experts from across academia and industry.
The first-of-its-kind event will convene global leaders for novel discussions on efficiency, both in terms of energy and savings. It's not too late to register & join us next week!

NAPA members joined staff at the organization headquarters in Greenbelt, Maryland for a series of meetings and networking last week. NAPA’s incoming Board of Directors Chair, Jay Lemon with Haskell Lemon, visited as part of his orientation on Sept. 15 and was joined by 2026 officers Jason Duininck of Duininck, Inc. and Ron Sines with CRH.
On Sept. 16, NAPA’s Northeast and Southeast Regional Advisory Councils were at the Greenbelt office for a joint information session to discuss how the organization’s office staff and subject matter experts work together to support members and the industry.
Debuting in May, the revamped Women of Asphalt website introduced a new login experience for members as well as an interactive map for site visitors who want to learn more about networks in their geographic region. WofA launched its new Branch Page to help more women in the asphalt pavement industry to connect with their peers across the state, region, or country. The group also introduced a newly reorganized page identifying local Women of Asphalt Branch leaders, so those interested in getting involved can reach out directly.
