Join the experts for a webinar, Navigating LIHTC Compliance: Ten Triggers That May Cause Compliance Audit Based on Findings from a Fair Housing Tester, on Wednesday, May 24, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Eastern and earn SHCM credential continuing education units. The webinar will provide 1.5 hours of instruction and include a 30-minute Q&A session. The LIHTC program is an essential resource for affordable housing development and a key compliance concern for property managers and developers. Participants should expect the following key takeaways:

  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the LIHTC program and the compliance requirements related to Fair Housing.
  • Learn about the 10 most common triggers that may cause a Fair Housing compliance audit based on findings from a Fair Housing tester.

The two national associations sponsoring the Specialist in Housing Credit Management (SHCM) certification program invite your company to become a Specialist in Housing Credit Management Company, a corporate designation explicitly created to honor management companies that successfully maintain a significant portion of their properties and staff to the high standards of the SHCM certification program.

The SHCM program, developed especially for management companies involved with properties developed and operated under the Low-Income Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, is sponsored by the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA) and the National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI).

Earning the SHCM Company designation publicly demonstrates that the company is among the finest managers of LIHTC housing in the industry.

HUD-Related Activities
On May 3, HUD allocated $382 million to states from the national Housing Trust Fund (HTF), which provides a source of capital funding to increase and preserve the supply of housing for people with the lowest incomes, including those experiencing homelessness. Funding for HTF comes from a modest contribution of new business income from the Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs), Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, rather than federal appropriations.
