The third annual Company Car Drive took place at the Autodromo Nazionale, Monza, Italy, on May 14 and 15. NAFA International Vice President Joseph LaRosa was in attendance along with Giovanni Tortorici, President of A.I.A.G.A. Tortorici was a guest at NAFA's third International Fleet Academy in Tucson, AZ in 2013.

Canadian equipment finance company Element Financial Corp. is in talks to buy PHH Corp's fleet leasing business for about $1.35 billion in cash, in a deal structured to include significant tax benefits. PHH said in February it was considering separating or selling its mortgage and auto fleet leasing businesses. The deal for the fleet leasing business, PHH Arval, would help improve the balance sheet of PHH, which has a market capitalization of just over $1.2 billion and more than $5 billion in debt.

In what has become an almost commonplace weekly occurrence, General Motors Co. said on May 20 it is recalling 2.42 million more vehicles in four new recall campaigns for a variety of problems as fallout continues to mount from its ignition switch crisis.

General Motors’ "belt assurance system" will be available later this year on 2015 model year vehicles, including the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra full-size pickups, and Chevrolet Colorado midsize pickup.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a small number of 2014 Nissan Leaf electric cars were built incorrectly. The missing spot welds in the car's structure are critical enough that their absence could affect the crashworthiness of the electric hatchback. If the welds are missing, the situation becomes far more serious. According to the official recall notice from the NHTSA, if any welds are missing, the vehicle is to be replaced.

Hess Corp. agreed to sell its gasoline stations to Marathon Petroleum Corp. for $2.6 billion, the latest and largest in more than $12 billion of asset sales as the company focuses on producing oil and natural gas. Hess found a buyer after filing paperwork in January to put the 1,342 stations along the U.S. East Coast into a separately traded public company.
