The survey takes a look at the makeup of organizational policies to see how widespread they are throughout the industry, what is included within the policies, and what barriers, if any, are preventing organizations from instituting such policies. The survey will be open until Friday, June 21 at 5 p.m. (EST).

State legislators in Maine have approved a bill prohibiting the sale of corn-based ethanol. However, the ban only goes in effect if ten other states or a number of states with the collective population of thirty million pass similar bills. Maine’s bill is now in front of the state’s governor for signature, the final step necessary to make it law.

As much as twelve percent of red light violations – equal to an annual total of 7.3 million stoplight infractions annually – are the result of distracted drivers, according to a new study. The research by the National Coalition for Safer Roads, or NCSR, and anti-distracted driving group FocusDriven tallies the results.

Two days after it publicly defied a request to recall 2.7 million older model Jeeps with potential fuel tank issues, Chrysler Group announced on June 6 it is recalling 630,000 Jeeps for two separate issues. The Auburn Hills, MI-based maker is recalling more than 409,000 Jeep Patriot and Compass small SUVs.

In 2013, CenterPoint Energy will add 35 natural gas vehicles to its fleet across Arkansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas. Additionally, the company expects to provide natural gas service to at least 17 new compressed natural gas fueling stations built in the company’s service territory.

In its push for putting zero-emission cars on the road, the Department of Energy is launching new programs to study the infrastructure needed to run vehicles on hydrogen. A cellulosic ethanol plant in Upton, WY was auctioned June 11 and 12 to the highest bidder after the operator and its parent company separately filed bankruptcies. The plant, owned by Western Biomass Energy LLC, is hitting the auction block after a Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization that has forced the company into asset liquidation.
