NAFA's Greater Pittsburgh Chapter Visit Truck Body Manufacturer
The utility fleet and work truck segments depend on vehicles that can handle challenging loads and conditions. Information about these types of vehicles, as well as having a sense of how they are made, is extremely helpful when it comes time to purchase such machinery.
On May 21, the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter attended a meeting at the Reading Truck Body Plant in Reading, PA. Several members from the Philadelphia Chapter also attended.
Founded in 1955, and bearing the name of its point-of-origin, Reading is a truck body manufacturer that makes steel, and aluminum utility bodies, dump bodies, flatbed bodies, and custom bodies.
Chapter members and attendees had the opportunity to tour the production facility during the day's activities.
"Outside of the tour, we had open discussions about total cost of ownership and how it effects your fleet," said NAFA Affiliate Ryan Hauger, National Accounts Manager for Reading Truck Body. "We talked about how to acquire and maintain purpose build trucks from the specification process through remarketing."
"We were impressed by the amount of knowledge the attendants brought and input throughout the meeting," Hauger added, "and we welcome any other groups that have the same interests!"
