NAFA’s Nominating Committee has completed its work and selected four candidates to fill the expiring terms of current members of the Board of Directors. The committee selected:

  • David Hayward, Deloitte (Re-nominated; currently serves on the Board as Secretary/Treasurer)
  • Robert Mossing, Steris Corporation
  • Adam Seifert, CAFM®, ARI
  • Mark A. Smith, CAFM, Element Fleet Management

The Nominating Committee evaluated nearly two dozen Candidate Consideration Forms submitted by members who wished to be considered for the highest leadership positions in NAFA. Each committee member evaluated every candidate on 10 characteristics and skills deemed desirable by NAFA’s Board of Directors. The committee also considered the candidates’ work background, involvement with NAFA, and ability to help advance NAFA’s mission, goals, and strategic plans.

“I am very pleased with the choices made by the Nominating Committee,” said NAFA’s CEO Phillip E. Russo, CAE. “In addition to their outstanding qualities, skills, and backgrounds, the nominees represent important segments in NAFA long considered under-represented on the Board: corporate fleet managers and suppliers. NAFA’s goal has always been for the board to adequately represent all of the major segments of its membership: corporate, government, public safety, transportation services, universities, suppliers, and consultants.”

Continuing on the Board of Directors will be:

  • Richard Battersby, CAFM, City of Oakland
  • Nancy Bean, CAFM, City of Provo
  • Ray Brisby, CAFM, Calgary Fire Department
  • Michael Camnetar, CAFM, LeasePlan
  • Patti Earley, CAFM, Florida Power & Light (President)
  • Bryan Flansburg, CAFM, First Student (Immediate Past President)
  • Maria Neve, Merchants Fleet Management
  • Steve Saltzgiver, CAFS®, Mercury
  • Kathy Wellik, CAFM, Iowa State University

Members of the Nominating Committee were: Ruth Alfson, CAFM, (Chair and Immediate Past President); Ray Brisby, CAFM (current NAFA Director); Michael Camnetar, CAFM (current NAFA Director); Beth Cooley, CAFM; Michael Freidel; Alicia Hammond, CAFM; and Kathy Wellik, CAFM (current NAFA Director).

Nomination by Petition: Patrick Barrett, CAFM, University of Nebraska – Lincoln, was unsuccessful in obtaining the required number of signatures to have his name included on the ballot for election to the NAFA Board of Directors.  As a result, there will not be a contested election. NAFA’s Bylaws call for the NAFA Secretary to cast one vote in early 2019 for each of the candidates selected by the Nominating Committee; those directors will begin their three-year terms in February 2019.
