Earlier this year I announced I had begun the dual role of CEO for both NAFA and the NAFA Foundation, NAFA’s “sister” not-for-profit charitable organization. My appointment as CEO of the NAFA Foundation was part of the complete reboot of that group, intended to give it a fresh start.

As part of that effort, the Foundation’s Executive Committee met earlier this summer for a full-day strategic planning meeting. The result was a new mission statement and goals that give the organization a clear sense of purpose and direction.

The new mission statement for the NAFA Foundation is:

The NAFA Foundation strategically advances the vehicle fleet and mobility management profession through research, education, partnerships, and scholarships related to innovative and emerging transportation business practices and workforce development trends.

The goals of the NAFA Foundation are:

1. The NAFA Foundation will identify, research, and benchmark innovative and emerging transportation business practices.

2. The NAFA Foundation will identify, research, and benchmark current and future workforce challenges, including training, motivating, skillsets, and generational differences.

3. The NAFA Foundation will sponsor the creation of educational opportunities related to innovative and emerging transportation business practices and workforce development trends for fleet and mobility management professionals.

4. The NAFA Foundation will establish collaborative relationships with associations, organizations, schools, and other entities to advance the Foundation’s mission.

5. The NAFA Foundation will provide scholarships consistent with the NAFA Foundation mission.

The NAFA Foundation wasted no time living up to its mission and getting to work on accomplishing its goals. In just a few weeks, we will release the industry’s first and only in-depth analysis and roadmap on the subject of mobility. Understanding that many in the fleet industry are not fully versant on the subject of mobility, the Foundation set out to develop a comprehensive report that clearly and in plain English tells you:

  • What you should know about the four key pillars of
    Connectivity, Automation, Sharing, and Electrification
  • Automakers’ roles in mobility
  • The dedicated business units and business partnerships being formed
with regard to autonomous driving systems
  • The major players in the shared and autonomous value chain
(OEMs are only pieces of a much larger puzzle)
  • Fleet managers’ key role in the future of reducing congestion,
    pollution, and traffic fatalities
  • What you as a fleet manager can (and should) be doing today
with regard to exploring mobility options, including looking at insurance
and liability issues, infrastructure, and building a business case

Please be sure to reserve the one-hour block of time from 12 noon to 1 p.m. (Eastern Time) on Thursday, September 27, for a free webinar showcasing the results of the Foundation’s study, The Mobility Revolution: A Primer for Fleet Managers.

There is no fee for the webinar, but registration is required. To register, click here.

Everyone who registers for the webinar will receive the detailed whitepaper upon which the webinar is based. The whitepaper provides greater details and insight and will be an invaluable tool and reference source as you begin your mobility journey.

I look forward to seeing you on the mobility revolution journey!

Sincerely,

Phil
