NAFA Meets with Chinese Delegation, Provides Training at More Than a Dozen Industry Groups

These days, it seems, everybody wants what NAFA has – even the most populous country in the world!

Last month, I worked with a representative for the People’s Republic of China to arrange a visit with high-level government officials from that country. Turns out, some of the highest-ranking directors in the world’s most populous country – more than 1.35-billion people live in China – want to learn from NAFA about fleet industry best practices and how to run their fleets more efficiently. That’s pretty impressive!

China’s National Government Offices Administration (NGOA) is subordinate to the State Council and runs the affairs of the central government offices.  As such, NGOA is responsible for managing the country’s official vehicles, state-owned assets, and real estate, as well as other duties related to logistics, housing, public loans, and air defense.  Delegates at our meeting represent a number of central and local agencies, including:
  • Department of Policies and Regulations
  • General Office
  • Finance Department
  • Asset Management Department
  • Real Estate Management Department
  • Services Department
  • Personnel Department
  • Administrating Department of Beijing Municipal Government General Office
  • Shanghai Municipal Government Offices Administration
I look forward to continuing the relationship with our new friends from the People’s Republic of China.  It will be thrilling to see NAFA’s education and training being taught across the globe!

Here on the homefront, NAFA has made a concerted and targeted effort to reach out to fleet stakeholder groups to offer our best-in-class education and training materials. I am proud to say that nearly every group has accepted our offer, and many have invited us back for encore presentations. Best of all, this exposure has led to other groups, previously unknown to us, reaching out and seeking our help in educating their members.

For instance, in May, procurement executives gave NAFA rave reviews for its presentation on The Economics of Fleet at the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) annual conference in Orlando.  Nearly 150 supply chain experts attended the session, which used a hands-on exercise to demonstrate how to apply a lifecycle approach to their fleet and calculate the optimal replacement point for a given vehicle.   Immediately after the session, ISM invited NAFA to make an encore presentation at its Indirect Procurement Conference this November in Las Vegas.

Also, last week NAFA spoke to hundreds of asset management executives at the National Property Management Association’s (NPMA) National Education Seminar (NES) in Phoenix. NAFA’s Director of Professional Development, Katherine Vigneau, CAFM®, presented three sessions related to strategic sourcing, challenges in fleet management, and sustainable fleet acquisition.

Looking forward, NAFA is on the agenda of the following industry conferences:
  1. September 15-16, 2017, AltCar Expo, Santa Monica, California
  2. September 20-22, 2017, NAFA-FLAGFA Joint Conference, St. Petersburg, Fla.
  3. October 2-6, 2017, Public Fleet Managers Association meeting, Los Angeles area
  4. October 11, 2017, Sustainable Fleet Expo, Raleigh, N.C.
  5. October 11-12, 2017, NETS Annual Conference, Charlottesville, Va.
  6. October 14, 2017, NAFA Southern Regional Conference, Orange Beach, Ala.
  7. October 18-20, 2017, Cable-Tec Expo, Denver, Colo.
  8. November 6-8, 2017, PARAR Institute, Sao Paolo, Brazil
  9. November 29-December 1, 2017, ISM Indirect Conference, Las Vegas, Nev.
  10. January 22-26, 2018, World of Concrete, Las Vegas, Nev.
  11. January 26-February 4, 2018, Washington, D.C. Auto Show
  12. March 6-9, 2018, National Truck Equipment Association Work Truck Show, Indianapolis, Ind.
It is rewarding to know that NAFA’s education and training is so highly regarded and sought after. True to our mission of promoting the highest level of professional management of vehicles for all fleet managers, we will continue our outreach to spread the gospel of NAFA.

Sincerely,

Phil
