Ford Recalls 21,000 Explorers in Canada

Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 21,000 of their popular Explorer SUVs in the Canadian provinces Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Mud that is found in these provinces' prairies can bend and break suspension components. Both police and civilian models of the Explorer are affected by this recall.
Mud that is found in these provinces' prairies can pack into the underside of the vehicle and bend and even break suspension components. Transport Canada, which posted the recall notice on May 3, said "soil properties unique to these areas" can cause mud to pack onto rear toe links and cause them to bend or fracture.
"A fractured toe link would affect vehicle handling and could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property," the agency said.
The automaker said that it is aware of three incidents, one with injuries, related to this issue.
