Ford To Showcase All-New Hybrid Police Cruiser At 2017 I&E

After replacing the Crown Victoria in 2010 with the Taurus Interceptor, Ford Motor Company has announced that they will be adding another police vehicle to their lineup.
The automaker unveiled the Ford Police Responder ahead of its debut at the New York International Auto Show.

Based on the Fusion hybrid sedan, the Police Responder is powered by a 2-litre four-cylinder engine and 1.4-kilowatt lithium-ion battery. It is expected to offer 38 miles per gallon. That's better gas mileage than any of the other vehicles in Ford's police fleet, and 20 mpg more than the Taurus Interceptor, according to WPXI.com.
The manufacturer expects the hybrid Responder to also save departments around $3,877 on gas annually, based on a gas price of $2.50 per gallon.
WPXI.com also reports that the Responder is also expected to be the first hybrid sedan with full pursuit capabilities, meaning that the car will be able to handle long pursuits at different speeds and over obstacles like curbs and crowded intersections. Ford expects the car to earn the pursuit-rated designation when it is tested by the Michigan State Police and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department later this month.
