NAFA is pleased to announce its next accredited fleet via NAFA's Sustainable Fleet Accreditation Program: the Fleet & Surplus Services Division of Minnesota Department of Administration.

The Fleet and Surplus Services Division has successfully demonstrated that a credible sustainability plan is in place, and real, meaningful progress is being made toward reducing their total emissions and the negative environmental impact made by extraneous carbon fuel usage. This fleet joins an ever-growing list of NAFA-accredited fleets that are bringing positive action and quantifiable value to their organizations.

"As one of the initial NAFA-accredited fleets, the Fleet & Surplus Services Division of Minnesota Department of Administration sets an example that many more fleets can follow," said NAFA Chief Executive Officer Phillip E. Russo, CAE. "NAFA expects that with the program's easy enrollment process, the Minnesota Department of Administration will be recognized further for their leadership."

"We are excited about our...accreditation score and are committed to continuing our efforts toward meeting our sustainability goals," said Holly Gustner, Assistant Director - Fleet & Surplus Services, Minnesota Department of Administration.

NAFA, in collaboration with CALSTART, announced the new Sustainable Fleet Accreditation Program during NAFA’s Institute & Expo (I&E) conference in Orlando last April. The program includes tools and metrics to concretely measure (and score) fleet progress in emissions reduction, fuel consumption, and increases in fuel efficiency.

"The Fleet & Surplus Services Division of Minnesota Department of Administration is one of the true pioneers of this program," said Alexander Barton, NAFA's Director of Accreditation Development.

NAFA's roster of accredited fleets includes: Chesterfield County, Virginia; City of Boston Central Fleet Management; City of Chesapeake, VA; City of Minneapolis – Fleet Services Division; City of Sacramento, Fleet Management Division; County of Sonoma Fleet Operations; Florida Power & Light; Fleet & Surplus Services, Minnesota Department of Administration; Ontario Ministry of Transportation; Port Authority of New York and New Jersey; Time Warner Cable; University of Illinois – Facilities & Services; and Yale University.
